Crow's Nest and David Pharaoh Cottages

This just in: hotelier Sean MacPherson (The Bowery, The Maritime, The Jane Hotels) has officially purchased a set of cottages adjacent to his existing Crow's Nest Hotel and Restaurant on Lake Montauk. Feast your eyes on "The David Pharaoh Cottages." Named after the revered Montakett Indian leader, David Pharaoh (regarded as the last living Indian king of Montauk), the name pays homage to Montauk's rich Indian history.  These adorable little homes (which don't seem to need much work as-is) will be getting the full MacPherson treatment. What does this mean for Crow's Nest guests? The chance to spend a summer holiday in one's own private beach bungalow complete with kitchenettes, a private lakefront patio, a private beach, and all of Crow's Nest's amenities. Apparently demand for the coveted two bedroom house on the existing Crow's Nest property was so strong that MacPherson quickly expanded to the adjacent cottages. A good move - with very few rental options in Montauk for families, expect these to get snatched up fast!  Below, the before photos of the cottages: More»

A number of new restaurants are opening up in the Hamptons this month, just in time to meet the eager droves heading out East this Memorial Day weekend.
Last summer, The Bell & Anchor and Muse Restaurant's openings had us talking. This year, there's a new set of restaurants whetting our appetite for summer.  Check out our updated round-up of new Hamptons dining destinations!

THURSDAY - APRIL 18, 2013

For us New Yorkers, it's really about the little things, so you can imagine the pleasure we felt when we heard that the dreaded weekend commute out to the Hamptons is going to get just a little bit easier this summer. For the first time ever, the MTA will be offering express, nonstop service service between Penn Station and Westhampton, leaving the city Friday afternoon and returning Sunday evening. The 94-minute ride is a far cry from the drunken, Frat-like LIRR experience of summers past. Pepalajefa: it's the food shop whose name is just as much of a mouthful as its unique dishes. Owner and chef Livia Hegner grew up traveling across Europe, speaks five languages fluently, and brings all of her bubbling personality to her "gourmet to go" shop, which is reopening this Easter in the Hamptons. We spoke to Livia and got the story behind Pepalajefa and its much-anticipated return! More»

The Hamptons Free Ride boys are back again this summer, and this season they're hitting up Southampton. The electric shuttle had its inaugural ride back in 2011, when locals James Mirras and Alex Esposito started driving people, including Bon Jovi, around the Hamptons beaches for free. On top of their service in East Hampton, Montauk, and Amagansett, the Hamptons Free Ride boys will be cruising out to Southampton beginning on Memorial Day. They partnered with Southampton locals, Chris and Stacy Dimon, to launch the new route. Now, getting around town and to Cooper's beach will be easier than ever. More»

If you thought two mediocre shows based (very, very loosely) on life in the Hamptons were more than enough, it seems that Glee co-creator, Ryan Murphy, thinks otherwise. News has recently broke that Murphy has just sold a family thriller, titled Montauk to Fox, which will be up for competition against both Revenge and Royal Pains, the current faux portrayal of Hamptons life.
