The event kicked off with a coin toss lead by Town and Country Publisher Valerie Salembier, followed by the National Anthem sung by the talented Nancy Atlas just before the players took to the field. Back in the VIP tent, guests enjoyed delicious summery cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres created by Sag Harbor’s Tutto il Giorno, including Pointy Snout Caviar. This season also features the Davidoff Cigar Garden, where VIPs enjoyed complimentary cigars provided by the Swiss luxury tobacco company.

To everyone’s dismay the game quickly came to a close as the fields had been well watered the night before from heavy rains. The teams, nevertheless, mounted their horses and rode for an abridged mini-match before finally calling it quits. Despite the unexpected chain of events, the day was still a fabulous one to be had.

Guests included International Polo Star and Ralph Lauren Model Nacho Figueras (New Club Partner) and Co-Founder and Owner Peter Brant, Kelly Bensimon, Beth Ostrosky Stern, Veronica Webb and Chris Del Gatto, Countess Luann de Lesseps, Kelly Klein, Gabby Karan, Fern Mallis, Sandy Gallin, Sue Devitt, Alina Cho, Samantha Yanks, Valerie Salembier, Jackie Swerz and Marco Mattiacci, President and CEO of Ferrari North America, Opening Day’s Headlining Sponsor.
