Yesterday we told you how the buzz around Rockaway Beach's hipster scene seems to be blowing up, and today we have received confirmation that the spot will be continuing to move in that direction. Our confirmation comes in the form of a CreativeTime Artist Sandcastle Competition co-presented by Grey Area and Artlog this coming Friday.
We know this event will be rad, seeing as the previous Grey Area events in the Hamptons region were inventive and drew a great crowd of art types and fashion insiders. The artists included in this sandcastle competition are Ricci Albenda, Jen Catron & Paul Outlaw, Jen Benike, William Lamson, Marie Lorenz, Mary Mattingly, Ryan McNamara, Kenya (Robinson), Shelter Serra, Snarkitecture, Laura Wasserson & Amit Greenberg and Dustin Yellin.
The Artist Sandcastle Competition will begin at 3 PM, followed by a 5 PM prize awarding. The after party will be hosted at Rippers from 6-9 PM with a DJ set by iDeath. Since we're all located in the Hamptons, we won't be able to make it out to the hipster festivities in Rockaway Beach, but tweet your pics to @gofghamptons if you're out there and we'll include our favorites in a post on Monday!

We sat down with Anne Pasternak for a few questions about Creative Time's past and future, as well as the importance of having an awareness about public art in the city.
