Nonstop "Cannonball" Service To The Hamptons Means A Faster Start To Summer Weekends

by Andrea Uku · April 18, 2013

For us New Yorkers, it's really about the little things, so you can imagine the pleasure we felt when we heard that the dreaded weekend commute out to the Hamptons is going to get just a little bit easier this summer. For the first time ever, the MTA will be offering express, nonstop service service between Penn Station and Westhampton, leaving the city Friday afternoon and returning Sunday evening. The 94-minute ride is a far cry from the drunken, Frat-like LIRR experience of summers past.

We all remember the beer slip n slide debauchery that went down on a train ride out to the Hamptons a few years back. And if you don't, then check out the video below and be thankful that you'll be able to escape that mess this season. We don't know about you, but we think $27 each way is a small price to pay for the slight luxury of a nonstop ride out to the Hamptons this summer.
