Eating Ice Cream For Breakfast Can Make You Smarter

by Stephanie Maida · November 29, 2016

Breakfast for dinner? How about dessert for breakfast? In seemingly the best news we've got all year, eating ice cream first thing in the morning can actually rev up your brain activity. And you thought you weren't a morning person.

According to a study published by Kyorin University in Japan, people who consumed the frozen sugary substance displayed better reaction time and were able to process information better than those who did not, and also experienced and increase in high-frequency alpha waves which means they were more alert and had less "mental irritation." Don't we all need less of that before noon?

While a sugar rush in the AM may be a parent's worst nightmare, you are an adult and can make grownup decisions. So scoop yourself some Ben & Jerry's with your coffee and, well, don't tell mom.
