The Michael Phelps Conspiracy Theory - 2008
The Michael Phelps Conspiracy Theory believes that Michael Phelps did not deserve to win his 7th gold metal at the 2008 Olympics. According to the theory, a close analysis of photo stills and videos from the match show that Phelps lost the match by 1/100th of a second.
A website, 001ofasecond.com, invited conspiracy theorists to discuss the possibilities that the US Government was involved in helping Phelps win the close match, that there may have been a pay off, and that the other swimmer was in on it.
001ofasecond.com has since been shut down for unexplained reasons.
