Bryan Ricci: Terra Incognita
In Bryan Ricci's acrylic on canvas and linen works, each layer of paint changes into a new image, while some parts of the image becomes distorted. Other layers disappear from view, but is still a part of the painting underneath. Bryan Ricci explains this process of applying paint "works as a metaphor for the way memory is constructed." Old memories are still hidden underneath the new, and there's a constant layering of memories on top of one another. Even the final product itself captures a precise moment, just like we would reflect back on a particular time. View Ricci's abstract works in his exhibit Terra Incognita before it closes this Saturday! October 5, 2013 - November 2, 2013 LAUNCH Gallery 170 S.
