Tell Me Something No One Else Knows

Tell Me Something No One Else Knows is a one-night installation by Los Angeles artist Artemisa Clark. Held at art and performance space The Strange, the audience is invited by the artist to use light to transmit information through encoded language. Clark's body of work aims to reprocess tradition and examines the acts of knowledge transfer through performance-based media. She pulls apart and slows down a fragmentation of word a...nd movement to create new opportunities for narrative. Part light show, part installation and performance, Tell Me Something No One Else Knows explores the idea of openly and prominently displaying secrets using Morse Code, an antiquated and time-consuming method of communication that is not necessarily understood by all viewers. This is a response of direct opposition to the advent of current technologies in social media and wireless communication. What would normally take a couple of seconds to relay is drawn out into a few minutes, asking individual audience members to volunteer a level of involvement that pushes beyond instant gratification.
