Mexico’s CINCO DE MAYOcelebration takes on a whole new life at The Conga Room with a never-before-seen modern-day interpretation of a historic cultural tradition.
As always with this historical Latin venue, the proof is in the music and a sizzling lineup direct from Mexico transforms the night into a veritable Cinco Fiesta. MARIA DANIELA Y SU SONIDO LASSER,a disquieting half riot, half lousy girl, kicks off the celebration with some of the most divisive electro music, while COSMOPOLiTAN, a three-piece party band from Mexico, combines electro pop, new rave drums, and a laptop into contemporary fun presented in pleather Elvis suits. Finally, LAS CAFETERAS, Los Angeles’ own Son Jarocho collective; bring guitar, marimba, cajon, and Southern Veracruz dancing to the venue. This fresh new take on Cinco de Mayo will take place on May 5, 2011 at 8 p.m. at the hub of Latin music in LA, The Conga Room is located at 800 West Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles, 90015.
