PRISM: Ryan McGinness "Trophies"

PRISM is pleased to present Trophies, a new solo exhibition of work by New York-based artist Ryan McGinness. The opening reception will take place from 7-9 PM on Thursday, May 26th, and the exhibition will be on view through Saturday July 16th. The gallery will exhibit new gold sculptures from McGinness’ Women series. In a formal continuation of the themes explored in this new body of work, McGinness deconstructs his iconic two dimensional drawings of several women and recombines them into three dimensional aluminum sculptures that are painted gold. Giant-sized golden wall drawings of the artist’s iconic women figures and a selection of works on paper surround the sculptures and serve as points of reference for these abstracted “trophies”� of the female form. We are pleased to be showing these new sculptures during McGinness’ month-long multi-venue tenure in Los Angeles this spring. The exhibitions, located throughout Los Angeles include Recent Paintings at Michael Kohn Gallery, Works on Paper at Country Club, Sketchbook Selections at Giant Robot, SponsorshipREDUX at Subliminal Projects and Women: The Blacklight Paintings at The Standard, Hollywood.
