David LaChapelle: Negative Currency | Recollections in America

PRISM is pleased to present two series of photographs by David LaChapelle. In the series Negative Currency, LaChapelle revives a developing process he experimented with in 1990. Using the enlarger in a darkroom, LaChapelle used dollar bills in the place of a negative, and the resulting effect was a pink print that shows both sides of the currency at once. Rendering the image of the actual physical currency as a virtual negativ...e, he is making a direct correlation to the economic collapse based on false commodities and false capital.
