We've always had a deep affection for Australia and its many contributions to Western culture. After all, it is the motherland of some of my personal favorite things such as Kylie Minogue, the Australian Open, Ksubi jeans, and koalas. And I'm not sure if it's something in the water there or perhaps a genetic trait linked to its penal colony past, but Australia seems to produce a disproportionate number of very good looking people who also happen to have great style. Los Angeles may not be the most fashion forward city in the world (I mean, people still wear Juicy sweats and Uggs in July here), but the chic shopping landscape is about to change thanks to the influx of international brands that are are making their way out west and staking out L.A. storefront territory, and we are très excited. A heartfelt thanks to Paris for sending over some of your best boutiques, including Isabel Marant, and what's this we hear about Sandro and The Kooples? London is also spreading its wings with the long overdue Topshop landing in The Grove this fall, as well as Japan's Uniqlo, plus some other exciting ones we've heard whispers about. So without further ado, here's a roundup of the best boutiques and fashion outposts we know for sure will soon open the doors of their new L.A. digs, as well as some unconfirmed speculated arrivals we may soon be able to look forward to shopping at in the near future. Remember the good old days when collaborations between high-end designers and low cost stores didn't even exist? Well, after experiencing the crazies at Marni for H&M this morning, I kind of miss those days. I remember first hearing about the collaboration early this fall, and it really didn't register again on my radar until Sofia Coppola teamed up with the brand for their release party in LA. And then, I kind of wanted to buy some of the pieces. So yesterday, I set out to see if I could get my hands on them. Spoiler alert: I didn't get them, but I did pick up a few lessons on the way about the secrets and dangers of hi/lo collaborations and retail experiences.

We at GofG L.A. are not alone in our fascination with Lana Del Rey. Vogue Japan editor-at-large and generally fabulous creature Anna Dello Russo has also caught LDR fever and admits she's become "fashinated" with the controversial songstress after meeting her in person. See how ADR hatched up a hilarious way to work LDR into her favorite looks from the Spring 2012 couture runways of Paris on her blog with the help of Photoshop. MORE>>

This is the Top of the Standard (aka "Boom Boom Room") on the 18th floor of the Standard Hotel in NYC. It's a bit different than the one here eh? Anyway, it's become quite the cool place to throw your bashes in Manhattan. Last night, Details Magazine did just that. MORE>>>

Rarely do style and design mesh so seamlessly as they did in Tribeca on Monday, where guests celebrated the launch of Aprro, a luxury furniture collection by Alexander Purcell. The Los Angeles-based design studio celebrated the successful debut at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair at a private event, which was complimented by a four-day instillation at the Meatpacking District's Paige Denim, a part of Meatpacking District Design '09. Amongst bellinis and a big screen displaying Kelly Rutherford and Brittany Snow at the Tribeca Grand Hotel last night, Abigail Lorick sat in a dress of her own design. The designer and stylist has skyrocketed to fame in the past year, after becoming a costume designer for everyone's favorite show (ok, obsession, and it's not just because of Chuck): Gossip Girl. If you've ever coveted Blair's mom's frocks, you were really wishing for a LORICK dress. More story and photos below... More»
