Normally, I love the daily discounts from Gilt, or GroupOn, or one of the other 2,000 deal email services: who doesn't like getting $40 worth of food for $20, or a year's subscription to Juggs for $10, or whatever? But what I saw in my email today made me shudder: a discount on a VIP table and bottle service at Bardot. This is bad. More»
via guestofaguest.com: You've probably felt it if you're reading this site, we've certainly felt it since we write for this site, and it's the great equalizer for all who stay out late drinking midweek to bank on a miserable next day. We share your pain in these steps to the Weekday Hangover. MORE>>
The next time you step out to Trousdale, you'll probably notice some new wall art reminiscent of the stairwells and bathrooms at Paul & Andre courtesy of The Muska. Saturday night while the Society launch party was holding it down, the skate legend celebrated the release of Supra's Chad Muska Skytop III kicks in the back room where he proved to be one spontaneous dude, unloading some ballsy surprises throughout the night that probably only he could get away with. We've long written off L.A. Saturdays as Amateur Night when it comes to nightlife, as they tend to bring out a rather unsavory breed of bottle service-hungry partiers with absolutely no shame from the Inland Empire and beyond to get real trashy and maybe punch someone/something in Hollywood. But over the weekend, L.A. arbiter of hip Minx Society joined forces with iSHOWMYSELF at Trousdale to turn Saturday nights around with the launch of Society. More»
This new Thai Town spot with an unmistakably American industrial factory motif from the Houston Brothers succeeds in making you feel cool for drinking. Go to Harvard & Stone and order the Trinidad Sour, a favorite of many a local drink connoisseur, and keep reading to see where else to go and what you should be drinking there for quality cocktailing this summer. What does summer mean to you? Beach, travel, friends? How about the fact that you can order a cocktail, or ideally several cocktails, at any time of day and not feel judged? But unlike, say, domestic beer, there's something of a quality threshold. Good cocktails need good ingredients and skilled labor, and that's going to cost you. Summer never lasts forever, so don't waste your money on bad cocktails at bad bars. Instead, why don't you take our advice on the best summer drinks and bars you're sure to love? More»

The Sunset Strip is synonymous with Rock, but that doesn't mean that every place on The Strip, in fact, rocks. Some, obviously, have grandfathered themselves into it; based on their longevity and history, Viper Room or Whiskey-A-Go-Go could host the Justin Bieber Pajama Sleepover and still come out with cred intact. But for most places, this cred must still be earned and tested on a regular basis. So I've come up with a checklist to analyze whether or not Trousdale's "Rock Tuesday" with Hammered Satin last night actually rocked. Let's see if we can figure it out. More»

Friday night, the No Shirt/No Shoes residents, with the help of Tropicool, Bixel Boys and Surf Ambassador Hendo, took over The Standard's Purple Lounge to "froth to a degree which borders on unhealthy". In other words, play some funky fresh tunes to get all the kids to unwind and down with the weekend vibage. See how they got frothy amid the lounge's newly acquired Ryan McGinness Blacklight Paintings of neon female figures, which we have to say complement the purple-ness very nicely. More»

Everyone gets excited to party on a Thursday. It tells the world that you're not constrained to the drudgery of the five-day workweek, or at least that you plan on accomplishing absolutely nothing on Friday. But some people clearly get more excited than others, and based on the amount of wide open mouths in these photos, I'd say most of those people were at Hemingway's last night for Old Fashioned Thursdays. Nightswim was back for it's third week as the place to be Tuesday nights all summer long. Tropicana was more packed than we've seen in as the Nightswim team kept the good vibes going with summer tunes and a special guest DJ set by OK Go's Tim Nordwind. Take a look inside what went down this week. Go on, jump in. More»
