If Dov Charney and American Apparel wanted to class up their image, they'd probably owe Roxbury a big "thank you" in the form of some gratis marketing, or at the very least, a lovely fruit basket since the nightclub's employee uniforms and patron ensembles appear to be the reason the retailer is still considered even a little financially viable to someone. As you can see, Friday night DJ Spider lit up Roxbury with the help of bottle sparklers, Go-Go dancers in really tiny spandex numbers, and of course lightsabers. More»

You know that collective energy the first day back to school always had after summer break, where everyone's really happy to see each other (or at least doing an awesome job pretending) and eager to meet new faces? That was the general vibe last night at the first Nightswim of the year despite most having last seen one another within days at Hemingway's/Paul & Andre/Trousdale/some hipster shit. More»

Aren't you glad Sunday is a party day again? I'm a Jew, so when it's not football season, Sunday literally has nothing to offer except long lines at Trader Joe's and suffering through my friends complaining about the upcoming work week. That is, unless some generous souls offer to throw a weekly pool party blowout. Luckily for us, the Dim Mak fellows are those generous souls, and their Sunday Summer Night Swim Parties are putting our Sundays back on the right track. It's just, some people aren't exactly used to partying on God's Day, so they make rookie mistakes. Here, then, are a few little tips and tricks to look like an old pro. More»

There are many different ways we humans deal with grief. Just off the top of my head—taking up a rigorous drive-thru only diet, watching "Real Housewives of Hades or Wherever" marathons in pajamas all day, turning to booze to help numb the pain, temper tantrums, lashing out at those closest to you in misplaced anger, or simply not dealing by living in denial, to name a few. And with this week's final Animal Tuesday, there was an array of expressions of grief from those who came out to bid farewell before the weekly party goes into hibernation indefinitely. More»
Although the concept is predicated upon a woman in various states of undress dancing seductively for a crowd of onlookers, there's something about burlesque that's kind of classy and doesn't induce feelings of an urgent need to go shower, like say, a strip club might. Case in point: the new Thirst & Howl Wednesdays at Hemingway's which add a touch of the provocative dance performance to this favorite latenight haunt. Keep reading to see how a little burlesque can take things up a notch on the sexy old Hollywood vibe scale (think less Cher and Christina Aguilera and more Dita Von Teese). More»

Things got a little steamy last night in Hollywood, and we're not talking about that 3D penis book party with Ron Jeremy. In the second week of the new "Thirst & Howl" Wednesday night throwdown, guests got a whole new experience of our regular haunt, Hemingway's with some Macy Gray and burlesque action. More»

If you observed the holiday, you probably don't need to be reminded that yesterday was Cinco de Mayo thanks to that bitchin' hangover you're feeling right now as a souvenir from last night's escapades. Let's take a look at how Hemingway's, where holidays of all cultures of the world are embraced, set that mother off for the occasion. ¡Vamos! More»
[Photo via] After nearly 80 years in the wiener biz, NYC's legendary purveyor of hot dogs is about to do what any respectable establishment looking to expand would: on May 18, SBE opens a Papaya King in Hollywood. How will this NYC institution once prominently featured on an episode of "Seinfeld", wherein Kramer cannot resist the King's delicious dogs while in line to see the film Checkmate, translate here once it receives the SBE treatment? There must be something about this premature summer heat that's got L.A. all hot and bothered because we saw a new, heightened passion in Angelenos frolicking in the night this weekend. It had us wondering if you noticed it too. And we just want to know, in the words of Sir Elton John, can YOU feel the love tonight? Join us as we interpret the swelling passion we saw at the No Shirt/No Shoes party at Bardot Friday night through Disney's animated musical The Lion King. More»
