Here's a refreshing thought: not every DJ performing at Coachella this year hails from the schools of Euro unst unst or dubstep squeek bonk BOOM. For the last 23 years, DJ Shadow has been a unique (if not remarkably prolific) force in the hip hop and electronic world, using his insanely large collection of 60,000+ records as basically the world's largest sample library, from which he creates music that stands alone as uniquely creative work. Recently, Shadow has explored some interesting places, releasing an album heavily influenced by the hyphy movement, and tracks from his upcoming album The Less You Know, The Better have been steadily trickling out online for the last six months or so, so we can most likely expect to hear a lot of that in his Sunday set. Just leave your glowsticks at home. [via]
