Tour Status: Currently on tour in the South Pacific before heading to Japan in March, followed by what are as of now their final two concert dates in Buenos Aires at the beginning of April.
Recording Activity: The band released their most recent album,
Wasting Light, in April.
Our Thoughts: Their tour to promote
Wasting Light wraps up a little over a week before the first weekend of Coachella, so the timing seems to make sense. This is another band that I would have been stoked to see a decade ago. Don't get me wrong, I like the Foo a lot, am a huge fan of Dave Grohl and think he is one of the coolest dudes around, not to mention a rare music talent. But this seems like another odd choice to headline the festival due to their long-standing position in mainstream rock. But maybe this fits the booking patter considering last year's Kings of Leon top billing? For the record I'm not comparing the actual music of the Foo to KOL's, just the category and audience/commercial appeal.
