This weekend at ESPN's summer X Games 16, onlookers who flocked to downtown L.A. watched as contestants kicked, flipped, skated, and soared in the many extreme competitions held this year.  Sunday, we scored a VIP all-access spot and got to see the ladies of the X Games strut their stuff on the skatepark.

The women's games, like Women's Skateboarding Street, are some of X's newest events. We were able to get an insiders peek into this competition designed to have the athletes show off their skills in a less structured, more casual form, as if hitting up the local skate park on a given afternoon. But don't let the casual setting fool you: the contestants of this competition mean business and prove that they can grind and catch just as much air as their male counterparts.

Competitors in the street skate included Elissa Steamer, Marisa Dal Santo, and Alexis Sablone who took home the gold for her amazing run through the course.
