If you haven't been to The Standard Hollywood since December then you may have missed out on Auroraborealis, the trippy interstellar winter wonderland transformation it received courtesy of the creative minds of National Forest design firm and creative consultancy, artists Justin Krietemeyer and Steven Harrington. The installation was composed of paintings of neon geodes, giant friendship bracelets and sculptures throughout the hotel's lobby and lounge areas, as well as a confetti-like haze reminiscent of snow at its entrance. But perhaps the most eye-catching were the large-scale graphics of peace hand signs, palm trees, smiley faces and other cosmic designs on the glass walls overlooking the L.A. cityscape just beyond the pool, representing Southern California's version of winter.
