Since 1989, Inner-City Arts has brought the children in underserved communities around Downtown Los Angeles premier arts eduction programs that not only engage them in creative pursuits, but enrich their overall academic growth. Now with a beautiful award-winning campus that covers an entire acre in the heart of Downtown L.A.'s Skid Row, Inner-City Arts serves as an oasis of creativity and after-school learning for over 10,000 at-risk youths a year. In addition to the Inner-City Arts team and partners, part of what keeps its programs and mission strong is money raised from events like Saturday's Summer on 7th gala. The annual event was once again held on the sprawling campus against the twinkling backdrop of DTLA and filled with young, philanthropic Angelenos who enjoyed a wonderful evening for a very worthy cause. While DJ Bryan Davidson covered the decks, the crowd indulged food and free-flowing beer and wine from sponsors such as Trader Joe's Tender Greens, Nomad Food Truck, Angel City Brewery, El Segundo Brewery, Frontera Wines, Let's Be Frank, Stella's Best, Patina Restaurant Group, Tina Tacos and more. The fun at this year's Summer on 7th did not stop there, as DIY crafting stations, dress-up photo booths, an artist market of unique creations, and a rooftop craft beer garden overlooking the L.A. skyline featuring live painting from El Mac and Uriel Leon kept guests busy throughout the night. To further entice the senses, Mohammed Alidu & the Bizung Family's live performance filled the night with Afro-pop beats, while RISE, a special exhibition of L.A. urban art across four decades curated by Casey Zoltan and Robert Goldschein, was on display for guests to explore. As with every year, Saturday's Summer on 7th was another swimming success.
