Slide #3

Uniqlo
Where: TBD, but most likely a mall; we speculate either the Santa Monica Promenade or the Beverly Center. If not in a mall, we could see Uniqlo setting up shop in a Downtown location. When: TBD but probably sometime this fall.  At the end of February, Uniqlo posted ads looking to hire managers and had a mandatory clause about a six-month training program in Japan. Do the math: if the training program started in March, those managers will be ready to go in August. We're throwing in a few weeks of leeway to get that store up and running. Why We're Excited: Oh Uniqlo, you surely do know the minimalistic way to our hearts. Simple, but perfectly executed men's and women's designs make this Japanese brand a personal favorite of its diverse base of shoppers. Uniqlo is a go-to for colorful basics like tees, cashmere and jeans, but unlike American Apparel, their style keeps it classy and they often feature special edition printed tees in collaboration with guests designers like the current Warhol tee collection. The Japanese brand is also a master of delivering high quality basic staples you'll wear forever. Case in point: I got a pair of dark raw denim jeans from them about 4 years ago; they're still as dark as the day I found them and show no signs of fading anytime soon. And did I mention their prices are totally reasonable? [photo via, via]
