So apparently the place to be for Friday night’s monthly madhouse on Dogtown’s main strip was Aviator Nation’s throwdown at their one and only flagship store on Abbot Kinney. Beautiful beach bums in over-priced rainbow sweat pants, retro trucker hats and comfy hoodies wandered around the rad retail digs and grooved to happy beach music from The Makepeace Brothers on the sweet back patio.

The place was packed and the Facebook-generated guest list was the only way to avoid waiting with the wannabes on the sidewalk. Despite a “dry” atmosphere, the wet ‘n wild seaside crew managed to keep the good vibes flowing – there was even an impromptu booty shaking contest. Perhaps that’s why a pack of LA’s finest decided to harsh everyone’s mellow by breaking up the shindig before midnight. I bet if someone had offered them 50% off this vintage headgear they might have chilled out and grabbed a PBR…
