Like ComicCon, BlizzCon, GamesCon or ConCon, this convention primarily exists as a monument to mindless, obsessive devotion and Soviet-style lines for everything. Here, fans line up to Walt Disney's great-grand-nephew Chet, an insurance broker from Wilmington.*

Seeing as how most people are already well aware of the fact that fans tend to dress up in costume for big conventions, I'd say the only thing I learned from this article and the captions in the slideshow is how exactly to sound like a smug, unfunny, judgmental prick. Oh, and that the impulse to point out a person's less than ideal body type somehow excuses a writer from being civil. Thanks for the lesson, Mr. Gilman. You've proven that you certainly have a lot of class.
But What Do I Know

I agree. I'm sure there were enough oddity photos and people who did a great job with their costumes to let the pictures speak for themselves, maybe with a longer write-up about the events and the vibe at the beginning (unless you were told that you needed to write in this format)? The pithy blows about outdated views on sexuality and body image kind of take away from the images.
