4. Cacao Mexicatessen
The authentic Mexican restaurant in Eagle Rock attributes their cocoa concoction to its first beginnings in Mexico and Central America. The hot chocolate tradition began with the Mayans and Aztecs cleverly mixing ground cacao seeds with various seasonings to create a spicy, frothy chocolate drink. The recipe was later coveted by the Spanish conquistadors, which led to the inevitability of being popularized and penetrated throughout Europe. With pride, the family restaurant continues the hot chocolate tradition, serving up their own modern version of Mexican hot chocolate in huge bowls - because they know you won't be able to get enough of this coveted cocoa.
