JJAMZ @ The Satellite
There's a big cost/benefit to starting a band with your best friends/family. On the one hand, you might ride your playful familiarity with one another to the heights of success and teamwork, but on the other hand, you might get sick of seeing each other all the time, implode catastrophically, and try to murder your band mates with a cricket bat (coughOASIScough). Luckily, JJAMZ was started by a group of friends with pre-existing successful musical careers, including James Valentine of Maroon 5, Jason Boesel of Rilo Kiley and Bright Eyes, and Alex Greenwald of Phantom Planet, so they know how to ride out the whole "fame" thing. And the music, which seamlessly combines rock and electronic influences, fuses the disparate but complimentary styles of the musicians involved to create tunes that weave a satisfyingly complex portrait of the joys and struggles of friendship, love and young adulthood. File this firmly under the category of "you won't get many more chances to see a band this good for free." [Details] [via]
