Mickey Avalon at Key Club
We've done our fair share of joking about Mickey Avalon around these parts, but the fact of the matter is, that's largely because we feel the need to honor the spirit of Mickey himself, that bleak gallows humor that characterizes his faux-aggrandizing, deeply sordid candor about a life of hard drugs, hard sex and hard partying. The result is edgy, sly, self-aware rap anthems that consistently entertain while never failing to slightly disturb, songs that never leave any doubt in the listeners mind as to Mickey's bona fides. His newest album, "Loaded," which carries on in this vein with such bangers as  "Rock Bottom," is dropping this week, so he's partying it up on the Sunset Strip, and every $20 ticket to the show includes a copy of the disc.
