Light Asylum at Echoplex
When a male-female music duo draws comparisons by critics to Grace Jones and Joy Division's Ian Curtis as Shannon Funchess and Bruno Coviello of Light Asylum have, it's kind of a big deal. Released earlier this month, the Brooklyn-based group's debut self-titled full-length album is filled with tracks that have dark a powerful post-punk synth-y sound that we imagine would be awesome live and have heard nothing but good things from those who've been to their shows. But if that's not enough for you, even the snobs over at Pitchfork say their live shows are intense with visuals of smoky blacks with neon. They also describe Funchess' look as "cyber apocalypse biker priestess" which is kind of priceless. [Details] [Photo via]
