Tonight: Venice's Hotel Erwin Hosts Wine Tasting For L.A.'s Opening Party

Attention winos: Hotel Erwin, the graffiti art-boasting Venice Hotel just up from the boardwalk in the heart of Dogtown, is hosting the first wine tasting event tonight for Wine Tasting For Los Angeles (WTFLA).  The event will be held from 7-9pm at the hotel's open-air rooftop lounge, High, (their restaurant is called Hash, get it?), which has the best panoramic views of Venice, the coast, and surrounding neighborhoods, as it is one of the area's tallest buildings. High also offers a prime vantage point for scoping out Anjelica Huston's "Fortress" home, only a block over on Windward, which the actress placed on the market just last week for a cool $18 million.

For tonight's inaugural tasting WTFLA is offering wines by two different Santa Maria-based Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producers, Byron and Cambria, whose Pinot was named favorite wine of 2009 by Wine Enthusiast magazine. This is the first of a summer of free wine tasting events by WTFLA, so go enjoy the views and some gratis vino after a long day at the office.  There's no list but limited capacity, so it's first come, first served.

On a total side note, did anyone else keep reading the abbreviation "WTFLA" in their head as "WTF, L.A.?"  or was that just us?
