New York Times To Encourage Website Subscriptions By Ceasing Paper Delivery?

by BILLY GRAY · January 21, 2010

It took me 20 minutes to find a copy of the Times in the East Village this morning. After trying five bodegas on 1st Avenue between 1st and St. Mark's, I was told by one store owner that no morning delivery was made to any of the suppliers on the street!

Could this be part of an evil plan by the paper to generate interest in its newly announced website subscription plan? Probably not. Does this make me fear for the future of the paperboy, one hitherto ignored victim of print's obsolescence? Absolutely.
