Seventh Seal

Today legendary director Ingmar Bergman passed away at the age of 89.  A true genius and master of cinema, Bergman had an enormous impact on film in the last 4 decades.  The Seventh Seal is perhaps our favorite of his works.  A film that demands multiple viewings, it explores the relationship between man and God as a Knight, recently returned from the crusades, plays a game of chess with Death.

If you still think Stephen Spielberg is the most influential director in modern film, think again.  And next time you think of going to the movies, bypass all the weak attempts at this art form, and instead rent the Seventh Seal.  You will not be dissapointed.

I’m so saddened by this. Seriously. Bergman was a genius, and he will be forever missed. My blog post for tomorrow is going to be about this, in fact.
