The Official List Of "Where The Wild Things Are" Events In NYC This Week From NYC & Company And Warner Bros.

Last week, Stanley had the pleasure of being a guest Vice Magazine's screening of "Where the Wild Things Are" at the Tribeca Grand. Every since, he has been on a full on "Wild Things" kick. The office is covered in his forts. Because of his recent fixation on all things Wild Things, we have decided to save him some time and put together a list of the official events from NYC & Company and Warner Bros. Where the Wild Things Are: Original Drawings by Maurice Sendak, Tues., Oct. 6 – Sun., Nov. 1 Morgan Library & Museum, 225 Madison Avenue View rarely-seen artwork from the book’s author, Maurice Sendak, including his earliest drafts, a pencil drawing for the cover illustration, and a preliminary sketch not incorporated into the final published version. This special exhibition honors the literary work of the cherished author and illustrator.

Spike Jonze: The First 80 Years, Thurs., Oct. 8 – Sun., Oct. 18 Museum of Modern Art, 11 West 53rd Street This film exhibition highlights Jonze’s contributions to cinema as a director, producer, cinematographer, writer, actor, choreographer, and sometimes stuntman. Several of the filmmaker’s fiction features, music videos, skate videos, commercials and shorts will be screened.

“Wild Things” Circle Time at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Sat., Oct. 10 – Fri., Oct. 16 (closed Tues., Oct. 13), 4 PM daily 145 Brooklyn Avenue Come and join the museum for daily readings of Where the Wild Things Are and start the wild rumpus as you wear your crown and listen to the story of Max.

Painting & Story Time at the Queens Museum of Art, Sun., Oct. 11 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM; readings at 2 PM & 3 PM NYC Building, Flushing Meadows Corona Park Embark on a tour of the panorama of the City of New York and imagine yourself as a Wild Thing on the loose, get messy and paint your own Wild Thing, and listen to the story of Where the Wild Things Are in both English and Spanish.

Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island Daily readings of Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book will be shared aloud by local librarians to kids of all ages.

Where the Wild Things Are Celebrity Reading, Tues., Oct. 13, 4 PM The New York Public Library, 455 Fifth Avenue Max Records, Catherine Keener, and Forest Whitaker from the film will read Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book aloud to children of all ages at the South Court Auditorium in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.

New York City Premiere of “Where the Wild Things Are,” Tues., Oct. 13, 7 PM Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center Welcome the cast and crew of “Where the Wild Things Are” on the red carpet. The film stars Max Records, Catherine Keener, Mark Ruffalo, Lauren Ambrose, Chris Cooper, James Gandolfini, Catherine O’Hara and Forest Whitaker.

National release of “Where the Wild Things Are,” Fri., Oct. 16 Theaters nationwide In the big-screen debut of “Where the Wild Things Are,” innovative director Spike Jonze collaborates with celebrated author Maurice Sendak to bring to life the classic storybook about childhood and the places we go to figure out the world we live in.
