Attention New Yorkers: city-bound and seething at your desktop? Cease yer hollerin' -one of Long Island's own is coming to Mercury Lounge to save your weekend (or at least your Friday's eve). Not so long ago, the gravely acoustic rocker Matt Lowell played a show at the Stephen Talkhouse that left us enraptured, and greedy for more. Lowell's music is full of feeling, but fuss-free -think Dave Matthews without the goose horn, or Martin Sexton, or a slightly less world-weary White Buffalo.

The Berklee alum was a dark horse favorite at last summer's Camplified tour, selling over 1,500 albums on the strength of his tight shows and hook-driven melodies. Since then he's teamed with Sexton's producer Crit Harmon for a sound that's somewhat more polished, and even more addictive. See what I mean tonight at 8; Tickets are $10 at the door.
