Patti Smith

Patti Smith

Poet and singer-songwriter Patti Smith, known as the "Godmother of Punk Rock," resided at 222 West 23rd Street, The Chelsea Hotel, for many years. The famous nineteenth-century New York landmark was also home for a time to Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Iggy Pop. You're out of luck if you want to check into Patti Smith's old room though. The hotel no longer accepts long-term residents and has been undergoing renovations since 2011.
