Stan VanDerBeek, “Writings, Drawings and Collages”

James isn't the only VanDerBeek in New York worth talking about! American Contemporary gallery in collaboration with the estate of Stan VanDerBeek is exhibiting a number of the artist's previously undisplayed works. Through such media as collage, writings, drawings, and film, VanDerBeek explored the nature of communication, and reflected on how technology -- in particular, film -- impacts our existence.

In his words: "We are on the verge of a new world/new technology/a new art. When artists shall make motion pictures into an emotional experience tool that shall move art and life closer together."

Opening Reception: Wednesday, July 18, 6–8pm

Dates: July 12 - August 17

Location: American Contemporary, 4 East 2nd Street
