Chath pierSath, I'm Here

Chath pierSath, I'm Here
Mixed media portraits and collages make up the work of Cambodian artist Chath pierSath, who explores the relationship he now has with his native country after a difficult childhood that resulted in his fleeing to Thailand and, ultimately, the United States, before returning to do humanitarian work. Experimenting with recycled and re-purposed material, pierSath often employs old wood and roof shingles, conjuring the idea that all first impressions could be re-packaged, even when it comes to the place you were born. When: Through August 30 Where: Tally Beck Contemporary, 42 Rivington Street [Photo via]
