We were lucky enough to attend a reading at the Strand on Tuesday with Maria Semple, who has just released her debut novel, This One is Mine (and used to write for Arrested Development, Beverly Hills 90210, Ellen, and SNL, among other shows) and her good friend Darren Star, creator of 90210, Melrose Place, and Sex and the City (it was actually Darren who gave Maria her start working on 90210).

Maria read from the novel, set in Hollywood and drawing on her years in "the business," and then she and Darren talked at length about their experiences in TV writing.  Stay tuned, as Maria promised John she'd sit down for an interview before she runs back West!
