ANDY WARHOL: THE DAY THE FACTORY DIED is Christophe von Hohenberg's photographic record of Andy Warhol's memorial service on April 1, 1987, which von Hohenberg covered on assignment for Vanity Fair. Von Hohenberg's lens captured a veritable time capsule of the social swirl of the era that Warhol had such a hand in shaping. Attendants included Yoko Ono, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring, Robert Mapplethorpe, Francesco Clemente, Julian Schnabel, Debbie Harry, Diane von Furstenberg, Bianca Jagger, Halston, Liza Minnelli, Paloma Picasso, George Plimpton, Ahmet Ertegun, Dominick Dunne, Steven Sprouse and many others. With a foreword by Anthony Haden-Guest, the book is a vibrant record of one of the most exciting eras in New York's cultural life, from the swinging sixties through the increasingly edgy 1970s and up to the heady 1980s that was started in the haze of Studio 54 and ended with the ravages of AIDS.
CHRISTOPHE VON HOHENBERG is a portrait and lifestyle photographer, who has shot for American Vogue, Interview, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, the New York Times Magazine, French Vogue, Hamptons Magazine, and others. His portraits have been displayed at The Grey Art Gallery in New York, Art and Interior in Berlin, and Valentina Moncada in Rome.
Von Hohenberg will be on hand for questions and to sign copies of the book. Limited edition prints are also available.
