| Description |
The Treatment Action Group (TAG), one of the leading worldwide organizations in AIDS research advocacy, will host its 13th annual “Research in Action Awards,” a benefit honoring individuals who have made a significant impact in AIDS research and activism. The event will be hosted by Jenna Wolfe, Co-anchor of NBC’s Weekend TODAY. This year’s RIAA will honor Dr. Michel Kazatchkine, Executive Director of The Global Fund to Fight Aids, TB and Malaria. Dr. Kazatchkine personifies the difference that just one man can make in the face of a seemingly unstoppable force. His achievements include: establishing the first Parisian night clinic that specialized in AIDS and made confidential health-care available to daytime workers and authoring more than 600 articles on HIV/AIDS and immunology. Under his leadership, the Global Fund has raised over $16 billion to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. Other honorees include: Roy 'Trip' Gulick, Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, Simon Doonan, creative director at Barney’s of New York and Tony and Emmy award winning actor, David Hyde Pierce.
