In these times of economic crisis, Stuart Schuffman has become an icon for the downtrodden by showing people not just how to survive through these dark days, but how to thrive in them and have a blast while doing so. Originally known for his popular books, Broke-Ass Stuart’s Guide to Living Cheaply in San Francisco and New York, Stuart has spent the past year making his website Broke-Ass Stuart’s Goddamn Website (www.brokeassstuart.com ) the best place on the web for the young, broke, and beautiful to find cheap and fun things to do. On October 8, 2009 Stuart is bringing his particular brand of madness back to New York by throwing a “Fuck the Recession Party” at Rebel (located at 251 West 30th Street, NYC). Along with live music, DJs, and various circus-y performance artists, there’s going to be at least an hour of free alcohol. The thought behind this is that, while the economy might be tanking, at least we can party about it and blow off some steam.
