| Description |
Ever since the Indian Point nuclear power plant north of Manhattan started construction in 1962, environmentalists have been vying to shut down it down. In 1979 the No Nukes concert series nearly got the job done, but all we did was slow the industry from building new ones. Now, nearly 30 later, the plant is leaking, and despite all the problems, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is about to award the current owner, Entergy, a brand new license, allowing Indian Point to operate for another 20 to 40 years! We have already made up the power with the electricity we save by installing Light Emitting Diodes. Indian Point is not worth the risk of losing the entire population of the Hudson Valley and Manhattan to another nuclear accident. Come support all the different people and organizations hard at work making sure Entergy doesn't get its new license. It's a party, it's a rally... it's a celebration of green lighting!
