| Description |
Co-curated by filmmaker Jackie Raynal, this series is dedicated to Véra Belmont, one of French cinema's most important producers and filmmakers.
'Red Kiss' : A deeply personal film for Belmont, Red Kiss sets a coming-of-age tale against the unrest of 1952 Paris. Nadia (Valandrey in an award-winning performance) is beaten bloody at a Communist rally and discovered by photographer Stéphane (Wilson). As the two become lovers, she begins to grow alienated with her ideology.
Shown at 12:30 and 4pm.
'Surviving with Wolves' : Belmont’s most recent directorial effort is an adaptation of Misha Defonseca’s controversial novel Misha about a young girl’s journey through Nazi Europe. Alone and in search of her deported parents, she wanders from city to city, stealing food and clothing to stay alive. A wrenching examination of humanity and endurance.
Presented at 7pm by Véra Belmont, followed by a Q&A moderated by Jackie Raynal.
