New York -the National Arts Club’s Roundtable cordially invites you to Mistletoe Syndrome: an evening devoted to the celebration of romance. Artist, Annika Connor and curator, Anne Huntington of Phillips de Pury, tempt your senses to dream, dance and delight in the Grand Ballroom at the National Arts Club. Drinks sponsored by Veuve Clicquot.
To spark the intellect, the night begins with a panel discussion examining notions of romance, nostalgia and beauty. Panelists include experts in various fields including art, literature, food and beverage, and fashion. Live music and dance performances will bring holiday cheer and invite guests to mix and mingle.
Panelists include, Christine Kaculis, the US Director of Communications for Veuve Clicquot who will discuss and celebrate the luxury and romance of Veuve Clicquot. Daniel Reich, owner of the esteemed Chelsea gallery, will discuss his stable of artists and installations, particularly the current Paul P Sherbert in Damascus exhibition titled after the David Snow story, which evokes historical Northern European travel south in search of pleasure. Elizabeth K. Mahon, author of ’Scandalous Women: The Loves & Lives of History’s Most Notorious Women’ to be released by Penguin in March 2011, will speak about romance and the scandalous women in her latest book, focusing on Isadora Duncan, Lady Hamilton and Camille Claudel. Gemma Kahng, the fashion designer who launched her fashion collection in 1990 will discuss the romance and inspiration behind her line. Eric Girerd, a French chocolatier, the master behind L’Atelier du Chocolat, will discuss the sensuous chocolate experience. Kama Carnes, the president of Kiki De Montparnasse and Rhett Butler will discuss the luxury fashion and lifestyle brand that celebrates intimacy and inspires the romantic imagination.
The jazz pianist, John Higlin, will welcome guests with Christmas carols, and will also accompany Tiffan Borelli as she sings ’Love Is Where You’ll Find It’ and ’It’s Oh So Quiet’. The classical pianist, Marina Boldyreva, will perform the Italian Concerto part 1 (J.S. Bach) and a Prelude No. 1 by George Gershwin.
Amy Laurent, a professional matchmaker and president of the top ranked modern matchmaker firms, Amy Laurent International agency will be on hand to consult. The fashion house, House of Diehl will provide a heart-shaped cut pattern from a luxurious fabric for guests to leave personal signature marks that will later be sewn into a couture garment, becoming one of a series of works presented collectively as the Signature Line. Sunita Chaphalker, the instructor at Dhoonya Dance, will perform with a group of Advanced Dancers a selection of Bollywood dances. New York City’s most unique style experts-theatre critics-gadget gurus, the identically dressed AndrewAndrew, the premier iPad DJs will DJ the night away for Mistletoe Syndrome.
Co-host, Annika Connor is a contemporary artist who paints nostalgic, sensual scenes of couples kissing and embracing. Annika invites guests to pose for a photograph by photographer, Sophie Elgort. The photograph will be used as source material for future paintings. Co-host, Anne Huntington is an independent curator and the Communications Manager at Phillips de Pury.
The merriment and holiday cheer will conclude with a festive and classic holiday party.
