Helping With Homers

On Saturday June 5th, Fresh Connections will host a wiffle ball home run derby in Passanante Park on the corner of Houston St. and MacDougal St from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Participants will face off against the Sandlot Slugger™ pitching machine to see how many wiffle balls they can whack out of the park! Top male and female performers will participate in a finals round for valuable prizes. Registration is just $20 for participants. After the conclusion of the derby, participants are encouraged to make their way to Down The Hatch for an after-party celebration including a two-hour open bar ($20 for Home Run Derby participants, $30 for non-participants). All proceeds raised during the day will be donated to God’s Love We Deliver. On Sunday June 6th, Fresh Connections will bring a group of volunteers to God’s Love We Deliver headquarters at 166 Sixth Avenue for a day of hands-on community service. Fresh Connections volunteers will construct ’Blackout Boxes’ of non-perishable items to be delivered to those served by Gods’ Love We Deliver. Blackout Boxes are an important back-up food source in the event of a summer blackout causing an interruption in the normal daily meal delivery to those in need.
