| Description |
The book takes you into the life of glassblowers, through interviews, essays, and - of course - stunning photographs. It shows us that beyond their function, glass pipes can captivate us with form — new innovations and conceptual art.
Independent publisher GritCityInc. spent 2009 curating the most progressive works from 37 contemporary glass pipe sculptors in an effort to rightfully document the forefront of this growing movement. This free release party will showcase all of the work seen in the book. ’Most of the artists will be there to support the gallery’s biggest event of the year,’ says Ian Kerr, owner of Easy Street.
Beginning with a thoughtful foreword by TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone, ’Smoked Volume 2’ covers the ever-stretching world of glass pipes and a community of innovative artists who are propelling their creations out of head shops and into fine art galleries and museums.
