Volunteer with Urban Girl Squad: Sports and Recreation with Disabled Children

Volunteer with Urban Girl Squad (www.urbangirlsquad.com) at Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN), a national, volunteer-led organization that provides one-on-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities. At this event, you will be a "coach" to one KEEN program participant, or "athlete.’ Your job is to help athletes take part in different activities (including sports, playing with scooters, jumping on trampolines, and designing arts and crafts projects) and have fun! KEEN (www.keenusa.org) strives to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals. No athletic or coaching experience is necessary! Before the session, there will be an orientation where you will receive a profile with details about your athlete’s abilities as well as a guide to helpful coaching techniques for your particular athlete.
