Please RSVP for event/tournaments by Friday, March 19 at 5 pm ABOUT SPORTING CHANCE FOUNDATION Seth Stammler of the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer founded Sporting Chance Foundation in 2007. Seth was inspired to launch the Foundation after a philanthropic trip to Haiti in November 2006. In coordination with Yele Haiti, the foundation created by Haitian born hip-hop star Wyclef Jean, Seth and several Haitian born teammates, Jozy Altidore and Jerrod Laventure, took part in a number of soccer clinics with under-privileged youths and children from a local orphanage. In addition, they conducted clothing distributions, which included passing out gently used clothes collected in the U.S. For more information, visit www.SportingChanceFoundation.org. ABOUT FRESH CONNECTIONS Founded in 2009 by a pair of community-driven Long Island natives in their early 20s and currently comprised of a group of young, inspired professionals, NY Fresh Connections is an organization with a goal to inspire this generation’s sense of civic duty. Fresh is a different kind of non-profit — a hybrid event planning and a hands-on community service network. By combining fun, innovative social events with volunteer service opportunities, NY Fresh Connections hopes to catalyze this generation to embrace the importance of philanthropic efforts and make fresh ties within the community. Fresh is run on a volunteer basis, and has thrown seven (7) impactful and unique events within its first year, becoming a far-reaching network for young, influential and passionate people to contribute to communities in need on wide-ranging levels. Event Planning: NY Fresh Connections partners with external non-profits, collaborating to plan fundraising events that have benefited foundations including Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the Stephen Siller Children’s Foundation. Most recently, the black-tie Stephen Siller Children’s Foundation Gala was held in December. Fresh has partnered for events with community figures including Rudy Giuliani, George Martin, Tory Burch, Catherine Malandrino, Kwame Jackson and John Turturro. Community Service: Fresh puts together hands-on community service project opportunities, having worked with Habitat for Humanity and the Afya Foundation. By utilizing both high-end fundraising and hands-on community service methods, Fresh reaches a wide spectrum of supporters and community leaders, offering a rounded impact on important causes. On February 27, Fresh Connections visited the international Afya Foundation, based in Yonkers, N.Y., where the group sorted goods and medical supplies, which were delivered to Haiti in early March. Inspired by the positive attitude and strong will of the Haitian people, Sporting Chance Foundation was founded to better the standard of living in Haiti. By teaming up with prominent athletes, various communities, and businesses around the World, Sporting Chance Foundation raises money to concentrate on two of the most important aspects of bettering life in Haiti, education and clean/potable water. In the aftermath of the earthquake disaster in January 2010, the Foundation has adjusted its focus to relief and rebuilding efforts in the country.
