| Description |
This exhibition looks at the rarely explored
connection between fashion and the environment. More than 100
garments, accessories,
and textiles from the past two centuries will be on view to illustrate
such positive and negative practices as:
Textile dyeing and production, shown below (left) in a dress by
Katie Brierley, that is colored with natural plant dyes, as opposed to
one from 1865 (center) likely colored with a dye that contained
arsenic.
Quality craftsmanship, a reaction against the “fast fashion” cycle,
shown by a gown (right) by Costello Tagliapietra.
