Nanubhai Education Foundation Announces Second Annual Gala, featuring American Idol's Anoop Desai Since 2004, Nanubhai has helped over 8,000 students of rural India attain skills so they too can experience the vast economic opportunities India offers.New York, NY- US-based non-profit the Nanubhai Education Foundation, providing opportunities to students in rural India, will host its second annual gala in New York City on Friday, May 21st, 2010, in honor of the foundation's sixth anniversary. To celebrate its worthy accomplishments this year, Nanubhai is holding an evening of music, entertainment and celebration at New York's Chelsea Art Museum, featuring a performance by American Idol Season 8 contestant Anoop Desai.Nanubhai is transforming access to quality education from the inside out. The organization was founded on the premise that all Indian students deserve equal access to quality education. To achieve this goal, Nanubhai created a unique Fellowship program that partners experienced American educators with rural Indian high schools to mentor and inspire local teachers to become excellent educators and leaders in their communities, provide enrichment services and programs for students, and to conduct area-wide teacher trainings. The annual gala is one of the foundation's biggest sources of funding.Additional special guests include Nanubhai's founder Raj Shah, Executive Director and Former Fellow Cat Biddle, 30 Rock and Weeds actor Maulik Pancholy, Bombay Dreams' Manu Narayan, Bollywood Hero actress Pooja Kumar, photographer and upcoming Bravo TV host Indrani, former Miss India America Melanie Kannokada, and actress and model Ami Sheth.
