Library Lions is The New York Public Library’s most important annual event. Each year Library Lions honors several distinguished individuals who have made significant cultural and educational achievements to increase our understanding of the world around us.
This brilliant, black tie gala attracts a high-profile crowd of more than 600 writers, celebrities, and government and corporate leaders, generating a great deal of press coverage in periodicals such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, The New York Times, New York Magazine, and the International Herald Tribune.
Cocktails begin at 7:00 p.m., with dinner and the program following in the breathtaking Deborah, Jonathan F.P., Samuel Priest, and Adam R. Rose Main Reading Room.
This year's honorees-five distinguished individuals recognized for excellence in their respective fields of arts, letters, and scholarship-including award-winning author Malcolm Gladwell, celebrated actor and screenwriter Ethan Hawke, noted scholar and widely acclaimed leader of The New York Public Library Paul LeClerc, beloved writer and entertainer Steve Martin, and internationally renowned novelist Zadie Smith.
