The 2010 Alzheimer’s Association Rita Hayworth Gala, themed Experience the Mystery, will take place on Tuesday, October 26 at the Waldorf=Astoria to raise funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Vibrant colors, seductive sounds and exotic tastes all speak to the allure of Eastern culture on display at this exciting event. Taking a cue from the masters of luxury and glamour, the 27th annual Alzheimer’s Association Rita Hayworth Gala will explore the mystical opulence of the East right here in New York City. As always, the evening is a time to shine a light on the ongoing mystery of Alzheimer’s disease, which affects more than 5 million Americans and is the 7th leading cause of death in the U.S. Experience the Mystery will be taking on the association’s new initiative for funding research and raising awareness of the early onset of Alzheimer’s disease in women, as one in six will be affected. With the continued support of a generous family of donors, the Alzheimer's Association works tirelessly to enhance research, care and support efforts and move toward a brighter future. We hope you will join us at the 2010 Rita Hayworth Gala as we participate in a spectacular evening of dinner, dancing and renewed hope toward a future free of Alzheimer’s disease. Lead by Founder and General Chair Princess Yasmin Aga Khan along with Gala Chair Michele Herbert and Gala Co-Chair Chele Upton Chiavacci; the evening will honor individuals who combat Alzheimer’s disease through their fundraising, care and volunteer efforts. For their outstanding contribution to help end Alzheimer’s Naeem and Ranjana Khan will receive the Rita Hayworth Award and G. Marlyne Sexton will receive the Philanthropy Award.
Since its inception, the New York Rita Hayworth Gala has raised more than $30 million for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
