Youme Matsui
Born in 1981, Ishikawa, Japan
Grew up in Yokohama-city, Kanagawa, Japan
After she graduated from art college, she opened an art school for children so they can make art. She tells how fun...(hard and important) creating art is.
Matsui also works at a junior high school as an art teacher. she believes that expressing oneself through creation can lead to something new. When she sees and feels the student”˜s artwork, she feels like it gives her power and inspiration to make something new to her as well.
Her purpose to making art is for ’communicating’
Please communicate with her through her art, even if you aren’t fluent in Japanese and even if you are not familiar with Japanese culture. Matsui hopes her art will give you a special feeling.
Michiko Samizo Artist Statement:
I draw landscapes and try to capture the personality of daily life, which changed my mind by the own viewpoint. My purpose is to express things that aren’t visible. It’s…what kind of thing is made of it’s picture. I like drawing and I try to capture the everyday moments that one may often overlook. I am delighted when people see a fresh outlook after viewing my drawings
